My story & qualifications

I’m Michele Houzé, a fully qualified Authorised Civil Celebrant based on the beautiful island of Jersey, creating meaningful and elegant ceremonies with a light, joyful touch.

I am formally authorised by the Office of the Superintendent Registrar to solemnise marriages, civil partnerships, and marriage conversions in Jersey, and was sworn in before the Royal Court of Jersey, affirming my legal duties and commitment to this role. I have completed professional celebrant training and continue to develop my skills.

Before becoming a celebrant, I enjoyed a long and rewarding career in the beauty industry, working closely with people to help them feel confident, cared for, and celebrated. That same care and attention now shapes every ceremony I create.

Why I became a Celebrant

Becoming a celebrant felt like a natural extension of who I am. I’ve always been a true people-person, someone who loves connecting with others, hearing their stories, and creating meaningful moments.

After many years working closely with clients, I knew I still wanted to be part of life’s most special occasions. Being invited to tell a couple’s story, to stand alongside them at such an important moment, is a real privilege. Crafting ceremonies that celebrate love, life, and connection genuinely feels like the best job in the world.

What I love most is the atmosphere a ceremony creates - the smiles, the emotion, the anticipation. Each one has its own rhythm, and I take great care in shaping that feeling so it becomes something truly unforgettable. I adore creating a space where love is celebrated, stories are honoured, and everyone present feels part of something deeply meaningful.

Life in Jersey & What Inspires Me

Family is at the heart of everything I do. I’m married with two grown-up sons, George and Alexander, and I treasure the time we spend together, especially when they return to the island where they were born and still love.

Jersey has been my home since 1981, and it continues to inspire me every day. From its breathtaking beaches and dramatic cliff paths to its peaceful country lanes and exceptional restaurants, it truly is a special place. It’s also home to some of the most beautiful wedding locations imaginable, perfect for romantic outdoor ceremonies filled with natural beauty and relaxed elegance.

When I’m not creating ceremonies, you’ll often find me enjoying everything island life has to offer - playing tennis, sea swimming all year round, practising Pilates, golfing, cycling, cooking and hosting, exploring interior design, or simply discovering the coastline.

I feel incredibly grateful to live and work in such a wonderful community, and being a celebrant allows me to give something meaningful back - by helping others celebrate love in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
